She's perfect!!!!

Mini G
6 lbs
16 1/4"

It's surreal. I still don't believe she's here. It's like I'm living in a dream. A beautiful, exquisite dream. This baby has us floating on waves of happiness. I don't think it will seem real until we get her home. And on the day we're released, I will be hightailing it to the car because...really, are they really going to let us take this preciousness home with us?

We are in love!

  19. Gigi, I have followed both of your blogs for some time. I cannot tell you how happy I am for you and your husband! Your little girl will be well dressed with a steady head on her shoulders, just like her mom. She has a nice head of hair going on. I didn't have hair till I was three, but now I have long enough hair for two people! I have this mental image that Mini G was born wearing heels, hand on hip, posing just like your photos! Prayers for the health and happiness of your entire little family!!!

  26. congrats....I read about your previous struggles, so glad that you are both OK. I was going to make some joke about "Labor" Day, but I see she was really born earlier, so never mind about that. Hope you are all getting some rest.

  35. Hello precious little mini-G!! That IS the loveliest round baby arm and the loveliest baby curls. Happy sighs. May she sleep well, be un-colicky and let you gaze lovingly on her!

  36. Thanks for all the love!

They make these little bundles super cute for a reason. I'm having breastfeeding frustration, but of course I will have all the patience in the world until she & I get it.

  37. Gigi - hear you on the evolutionary importance of super cuteness - it's so much work at first! It does get easier though. Strongly suggest checking out fearlessformulafeeder.blogspot.com on BFing challenges and troubleshooting, also Kellymom (but latter can be a bit lactivist-judgy so ignore dire warnings against Even One Bottle). I struggled with reflux and milk protein intolerance for baby at first and heard all kinds of BS from peds, so be sure you get a good and experienced feeding consultant!

  38. We had a bit of a rough start with nursing but patience and expert lactation advice was key. I joined a La Leche League group for awhile and that was great. In the Seattle area there are PEPS groups (Program for Early Support) - must be similar groups in other areas - I never attended the newborn groups but have several friends who did and they made friendships that lasted for years (in addition to having support and resources).

  41. Hi, Gigi- me again. Just caught up reading all the previous posts and of course had to comment on gender reference. It's very natural for some to want babies of certain gender. I wanted the firs one to be a boy, badly. I grew up with brother who I raised ( 10 years apart, mom always at work), so I felt comfortable with idea of having a son. My wish was granted and Michael came in. Second time around I wanted a girl, but had a nagging that second boy will be somehow ok too since I had my first son knew what to do with him. When I found it's a he, I felt a huge surge of disappointment. I felt I was robbed of a princess room, mini shopping trips together, dolls and fashion etc. Not till he was born ( which was a blessing after scare, we had a health threat, 2 weeks at NICU, I try to put those nightmarish weeks behind me and never ever think of that, only to say my prayers and thanks), that I got all that rubbish out of my head. I am so fortunate to have him and would not wish for anybody else. So, your princess is what was meant for you and you, probably, laugh at your thoughts now and think how could you ahave wished for anybody different? :))

  45. SE Mom - We're doing better w/bf. I got a nipple shield and it has made all the difference. I wish I didn't have to use it, but since Mini G takes it, I don't worry about it. She also takes a formula supplement via bottle if I have bf and she's still rooting & doing the other indicators for hunger. I feel lucky that she's flexible.

Slastena - Totally. Cannot imagine another baby with us at all.

Thanks again for all of your good wishes!

  46. Wow, the nipple shield looks interesting, I had no idea you could get something like that. I remember being really, really sore. Glad to hear the bf is going better for the two of you.

  47. I am so late with this comment but I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! What wonderful news. YEY! :)

  48. SE Mom - the nipple shield cuts down in soreness, but doesn't remove it totally

    Alexis - thanks!!
